It is precisely the collection of Romanesque the largest in the entire museum, finding large mural paintings of churches and emblematic buildings of Catalonia and Aragon. The author of this building is Richard Meier, Prtizker Prize, of contemporary inspiration. Inside you can find the best pieces and temporary collections of the most recognized artists of the twentieth century, there are currently more than 500 works.
In the world there are several museums dedicated to the great artist Picasso, but the one in Barcelona is perhaps the most complete. Although this artist’s birthplace is Malaga, much of his artistic development was in Paris and in Barcelona. In this building you can find more than 3,500 works, many of them donated by the artist himself, who sought to expand this place over the years. In addition to the collection, the museum is located in a beautiful place, surrounded by Gothic mansions worth visiting.
One of the great museums of the city of Barcelona is the one dedicated to the artist Miró, with more than 10,000 works of Catalan artist. It has a collection where sculptures, ceramics and other works with various materials are found, which they have managed to gather since 1975, the year in which it was inaugurated. Some of the works we like the most are portraits of a girl or Llama in space and a naked woman.
This museum has a curious history behind the building that houses it. The Casaramona factory, created by the modernist architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch, delighted the public for reminding them of the medieval castles typical of fantastic tales. Despite its appearance, it had great advances of the time: electrical system that worked without coal, fire towers and wide windows. This building passed into the hands of different states, until it came to abandonment. It was in 1963 when the Caixa acquired it and was opened to the public in 2002, after a reform. Currently you can access the most interesting temporary collections.
