In Barcelona, from June 23rd to the 24th, San Juan is celebrated; a night festival associated with summer solstice and the pagan rhythm, with a bonfire, and tried to increase the sun´s strength to prepare for the winter.
In Barcelona, the Canigou Flame arrives on the 23rd to Plaza Sant Jaume in the afternoon. The fire lights up the bonfire and never switches´ off; during the rest of the year it´s kept in Castillito de Perpignan. At 12pm, the Canigou Flame is distributed between the hosts to turn on the populations´ bonfires. Also, this year, it is the birthday night in San Juan in Barcelona, because 50 years ago the Canigou Flame came for the first time.
